ABOUT
PUBLISHERS NOTE
I had originally intended the title of this book to be 'Forgotten Classics'
to reflect the some what neglected nature of these vehicles. Although quite
apt this title was used by Ray Newell in his article these cars in
Thoroughbred & Classic Cars Magazine in February 1989. The title changed
to simply 'Morris Oxford Series MO'.
Unfortunately I have had very little pre-production material to draw
from, but production figures available and have been reproduced elsewhere
in this book. Although it was initially intended to cover M.O.'s
throughout the world, the bulk of this book relates to Australian vehicles.
However it is not through the lack of trying!
There have been numerous delays with this project and it has now been
some three years was actually started. These delays have actually been
beneficial because of the new information has been forthcoming. For example,
in the last six months (with the help of fellow enthusiasts I have managed
to trace two 1948 production Oxfords and there is possibly a third we have
just become award of aware of somewhere in Queensland.
Front cover: A beautifully restored example of the MO Oxford
in its final form is DAJI1 (2303H). This 1953 production vehicle was first
registered on 10th July 1953 and is owned by Paul Vincent.
