A second hand official BMC Factory Manual for the Austin and Morris 1800 Part No AKD 4138D

                                    INTRODUCTION
            This Manual has been prepared to provide service operators with the necessary infor-
         mation for correct maintenance and repair, and also serves as a ready-reference book for
         service supervision and covers items of procedure for guidance of both the fully qualified
         and the less-experienced mechanic.
         
         UNIT ARRANGEMENT
            The Manual is divided into Sections and each Section carries a reference letter that
         identifies the Section with an assembly, a major component, or a servicing procedure.
 
            Each Section is prefixed with a contents page and is sub-divided numerically. The
         pages and illustrations are numbered consecutively within each Section and the Section
         title and letter are shown at the top of each page of text.
 
          Sections having the suffix a contain supplementary information dealing with the
         1800 Mk. II and later 18/85 cars or optional equipment, i.e. Power-assisted Steering.

                  MAINTENANCE    
            Maintenance items within the Sections should be carried out at the intervals specified
         in the Passport to Service or Dnvers Handbook.
 
               SERVICE TOOLS   
            Use of the correct Service tools contributes to an efficient, economic, and profitable
         repair and references to such tools have therefore been made throughout the Manual.
