1) We have had a look at the mono-wheel-trailing-arm option in the evaluation download, but it has two-link connection points either side of the wheel, whereas we would have only one (due to the nature of the in-hub motor) - kinda like a motorcycle swing-arm. Would the program specifically be able to accommodate an analysis on this type of configuration, ie. can we eliminate the one side link…
Yes. Under Geometry -> Config you can specify either double sided or single sided trailing arm. It is however only a cosmetic thing. Geometrically it makes no difference.
2. ) We will be using thin tyres (2.25"); the evaluation obviously has limitations in this respect - does the standard program facilitate tyres this thin in its analysis, as some of the programs I have seen have a low-end limitation.
No limit on tyre and wheel widths (even zero will calculate without error!!)
